Facebook

I added a Facebook Page for Homeschooling Freethinkers. We've had a Facebook Group for awhile now, though the functionality and features of groups and pages differ. Pages behave more like a personal profile on Facebook, and the features are supported better. Items posted to the page will show up on your "home" page (though you can disable that / opt-out). I'd prefer if Facebook would amalgamate the features of "pages" and "groups" as many organisations have both, which is kind of silly, but whatever...

Facebook has made significant changes to theIr Groups, so they now look like and behave like Pages (with some differences). The purpose of Groups and Pages differ, according to Facebook. The former is intended as a community for group discussion, and the latter is intended for public figures, businesses, and websites to broadcast content to their "fans". The Homeschooling Freethinkers Group has been quite active lately, and homeschoolers are using it for support and networking, which is great. The Facebook Page I use to post about issues I feel are important - mostly to do with current events. If you consider these forums, the Facebook Group compliments the "Homeschooling" forums, whereas the Facebook Page compliments the "Freethinking" and "General Discussion" forums.
